Just like everyone, we have been impacted by COVID over the past several months as a family and as individuals.
Our family has been through a lot of changes over the last 7 months, from Shon finishing cancer treatment, to MNL beginning and continuing school online, Kayla and Austyn moved 1,700 miles away from home, and so much more! Life certainly looks different these days. Holidays and birthdays have been celebrated differently. Evening check-in text messages and weekly zoom calls have become a new normal to us. In some ways, even though we are farther apart in distance, we seem to feel closer as a family than ever before.
No one knows what the next few months will bring, but chances are that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years celebrations will be taking place virtually for us. Just like many of you, the uncertainty of the times and the feeling of missing family has us wishing we would travel and be together in person, but we know that it is not worth the chance of our immuno-compromised family members becoming ill. We will continue to be grateful for each day that is filled with health and happiness.
Know that if you are feeling the stress of COVID and the challenges that have come with this time, that you are not alone. We are glad to have you as part of our community and would like to be transparent that we are facing the same challenges that you are. These times are rough, but a little bit of hope and happiness can go a long way.
Sending you and your family hope and happiness,
Shon and Kay
